Final Results

Although Minnesota and Detroit will be completing the regular season on Tuesday, our MLB Pool has come to a close. I hope that you all enjoyed the competition.

Tyler Krowiorz claims our top prize of $600 with 51 points. He took the lead for good on the final Friday of the regular season. Congratulations, Tyler!

Our 2nd place prize of $400 belongs to Jay Praefke. Jay scored 49 points. Jay would have won the pool if the Milwaukee Brewers had simply won one more game this year.

Jim Dickelman claimed our 3rd place prize of $250 with 45 points.

Our final payout of $150 is split between Jim/Nate and the Dinglberris entry of Jon Hisgen. Each of their entries scored 44 points, which means that we go to a tiebreaker.

Amazingly, each of these brackets nailed their '10' point prediction on the head. Before the season, Jim/Nate correctly predicted that the St. Louis Cardinals would win 91 games this year. At the same time, Jon correctly predicted that the Chicago White Sox would win 79 games this year. As a result, Jim/Nate and Jon each win $75.

Our "booby" prize of $20 goes to Erick Kubusek. Erick only scored 9 points with his picks. Ouch!

If you're entitled to some cash, shoot me an email with your mailing address. I will send you a check ASAP.

I hope to see you all next year. My only solace this season is the fact that I personally tied for 30th place, which means that I (barely) finished in the top half of our pool. Time to start studying for next season!

Viva Las Vegas!

I leave for Vegas on Friday. As a result, the standings won't be updated until Tuesday sometime. Surprisingly, our standings haven't been changing much near the top, so this probably isn't a big deal to many of you.

Brewer Fever

The success of the Milwaukee Brewers will undoubtedly play a key role in our pool. Now that they've fallen below the .500 mark, Tyler Krowiorz finds himself back at the top of our leaderboard for the first time since April 25th. If the Brewers get back to .500, the top of our current leaderboard will change dramatically.

Four-in-a-Row

For the first time in nearly a month, someone sits on top of our leaderboard for a 4th consecutive day. Congratulations to Steve Bernhardt!

The Preakness

I will be flying to Baltimore later today for a long weekend. Along the way, I'll be attending the running of the Preakness Stakes.

As a result, I won't be updating our standings for the next few days. In the interim, Jon Wedge Hisgen will get to see his name atop the leaderboard for awhile.

Wish me luck on my wagers!

Please Pay!

If you haven't already paid (or made arrangements to pay), please send me your $20 entry fee ASAP. If you click on the standings and you're not marked as "pd", I haven't gotten your money yet.

Don't be labeled a potential deadbeat. Send me your cash!! You don't want your entry disqualified, do you?

It's early . . .

but I just updated the standings and Tyler Qualio is in dead last. After winning our pool last season with a perfect bracket, the start of the MLB season hasn't been kind to Tyler's bracket so far this year.

Two Weeks In

Two weeks into our season and a familiar name sits at the top of our leaderboard: Rick Nielsen.

For those of you new to this game, Rick was consistently near the top of our leaderboard last season. This year hasn't started any differently. Of course, Rick wasn't quite able to finish in the money last season, so I'm sure he's hoping for a little different ending to the story in 2009.

I've added a column to the standings that indicates who has paid. If nothing else, this may help shame some of you into sending in your $20. :-)

If you think you've paid but I haven't marked it on the standings, let me know.
